"the knot" - Wedding guide books and magazines in Austin Texas had a wonderful Business Social Event. This is just for Wedding Industry Business Professionals!

I was excited to go and join in as a "knot" photographer with my wonderful friend and colleague Jennifer Frost of "Arthouse Designs" a wedding floral design company. I have worked side by side and with Jennifer Frost for a very long time taking photos and creating beautiful wedding floral designs!

They had wonderful and delectably eatable pastries by Stardust Pastry . Also, some wonderful wedding dinner samples from CRAVE catering.


I know that I don't come and write on my blog as I should but I do have a life. ha ha ha!! But I will try to more often in the future since I am getting a little more "free" time to be able to concentrate on Dark Woods Studios, Ltd. Co.

I have decided to re-vamp my website and update it after the end of the year. So because of that my website is still up and running but is a tad-bit outdated.. I have been posting most of my work on my smugmug site and also my zenfolio site.

I have been soo busy since I have gotten back from Canada and Alaska. Wedding Flowers are also another side passion of mine and lucky for me I have been working with a wonderful floral designer; Jennifer Frost of Arthouse Design, Austin Texas. Most of the photos on her blog are ones that I took and I love doing flowers.. It is such a wonderful sight to go to all the beautiful venues and see all the happy brides whom love their flowers!! All cakes shown were made by Michelle's Patisserie, Austin, Texas.

BUSY BUSY BUSY!! Still Here and Drowning in Pictures!! LOL!

Had a wonderful summer!! We ventured to Canada & Alaska Regions. Here are some pictures above of some of the places we visited. First picture is of the clouds/sun over Rocky Mountains on our way to Vancouver. Second Pic is of the Rocky Mountains from air. Third pic is of me at Kathleen Lake in the Yukon territory Canada. One of the most photographic lakes in all of Northern America.

The fourth picture is of the Vancouver transit system (which America should adopt and learn from) the SkyLink. Awesome.. No need for cars; just go on the monorail or bus. So cheap and you can get all over Vancouver this way.. I love it & wish to move here some day!!

Last picture is of me at a "dead glacier" next door to Kathleen Lake in the Yukon. This is what is left over after all the ice melts & the tundra dies on a glacier. Pretty tough to hike up and more scary coming down.. I am sitting in a rock "queen" chair that the local Natives like to build as well as hikers' to allow you to sit, relax and enjoy the views.. beautiful!!

Getting Ready for Spring...

I am getting ready for Spring and already I feel my work has piled high enough that Spring will be here before I know it.. I finally finished Amanda's Wedding Pictures. I didn't think they would take soo long to do.. however, I had over 2500 shots and I did this all by myself along with some other weddings that came around the same time and a couple of pregnancy photos and one birth so my plate was pretty darn full.. But since I am doing this for my dear friend I made sure to take my time, and do them with the thought that she will be happy to have them.

I loved this couple they are what I hope to be when I am their age.. They are truely the Spice of Life!

Hey All!!! Hope everyone is doing well in these terrible economic times. Jessica's Photos of her wedding are now on my smugmug page and also available for purchase on pictage.com

This wedding was a fun and beautiful wedding!! I had a hard time with lighting the event. I am still working on buying more lighting equipment, so I used what available lighting I could to help make the photos pop. I enjoyed the fun dancing and the wonderful Tres Leches cake that the Groom Evansto made himself!!! A+++++++ HE is a WONDERFUL Cheif!!! This wedding was a dusk wedding and so the bride wanted to be natural and capture the Texas fading sky as it was, I was not going to mess that up by setting up my studio lights! It does show in the photos eventhough some came out better than others because of the lack of light.. I am pleased with what I did. Most photographers try to light up everything however, sometimes it just doesn't capture the sunset someone is looking for.. Enjoy the photos and I will be hopefully listing the Fillmore wedding that was also a dusk wedding but with different lighting and it still is soo beautiful but different.. I love figuring out lighting and how it can look different and similar situations..

I hope Jessica and Evansto enjoy their photos for years to come.. Congradulations you two, you both deserve it!!!

I am busy busy busy....

Just wanted to check in with everyone and let you know that I do have more weddings to post soon on my smugmug page. I am half way thru Amanda's wedding photos.. Hers are taking longer as there are many of them. I do not have but one wedding up on my smugmug page, and I apologize for this for anyone out there looking for "Big" wedding photos or more wedding photos. I will get the three I am working on now done soon and will have them up hopefully by christmas.

I also have some pictures of my friend Melanie (The first pregnancy pictures on this blog) and her husband Mike and there new pride and joy, JACK!!! He is such a good baby and soo small and just precious. So look out for these soon.

The boys made a special foil heart to use for painting. Not perfect but hey, it's cute!!! They put a lot of thought into that heart for their new baby brother... How sweet is that!
